Loch Lomond Whiskies, The Official Spirit of The Open, Women’s British Open and Ladies Scottish Open, has agreed an exciting new partnership with US women’s golf icon, Cristie Kerr.
Kerr joins fellow professionals Colin Montgomerie and Paul Lawrie as ambassadors for the brand. Since turning professional in 1996, Kerr has recorded 20 wins on the LPGA Tour including two Majors – the 2007 U.S Women’s Open and the 2010 Women’s PGA Championship. She was also World No. 1 on three separate occasions throughout 2010.
Off the course, Kerr has an active interest in the drinks trade as owner of the Kerr Cellars wine company and holder of the Level 1 Court of Master Sommeliers certificate. The Loch Lomond Whiskies partnership is her first move into spirits.
Kerr said: “People know about my involvement in wine, but it may come as a surprise that I’m also incredibly passionate about single malt whiskies. Having travelled to Scotland on a number of occasions I know that the whiskies on offer – just like the golf – are amongst the finest in the world. Loch Lomond Whiskies is an organisation which already has credibility in the women’s game and the dedication, passion and expertise that goes into making each whisky is something I can appreciate and identify with. I’m incredibly excited about the partnership and am looking forward to spreading the word of Loch Lomond Whiskies around the world.”
For the Women’s British Open, Kerr has worked closely with the Loch Lomond Whiskies team to create a signature cocktail – The Kerr – which is being served to spectators in the Loch Lomond Bar at Royal Lytham & St Annes.
Colin Matthews, CEO of Loch Lomond Group, said: “We are very proud to be associated with Cristie as our first ambassador in women’s golf. We hope that this association will demonstrate both our enthusiasm for the future of the women’s game as well as our ambition to introduce our diverse award-winning scotch whisky brands to many new consumers to enjoy.”
