Loch Lomond Whiskies has been shortlisted in the ‘Best Event or Competition Sponsorship’ category at the prestigious Sport Industry Awards for the brand’s sponsorship of The Open.
The partnership with R&A marked Loch Lomond Whiskies’ first major venture into sports sponsorship. The 147th Open championship was the first event of a five-year deal. Activations took place on site at Carnoustie with more than 7,000 visitors to the Loch Lomond Whiskies bar, and more than 12,000 on-course samples distributed. Away from the course, ambassador deals were agreed with golfing icons Colin Montgomerie and Paul Lawrie and promotions took place with golf databases, media partners and Global Travel Retail at Heathrow Airport.
The ‘Best Event or Competition Sponsorship’ award sees Loch Lomond Whiskies go up against Budweiser (FIFA World Cup), Cadbury’s (Premier League), Hilton Hotels (BMW PGA Championship), Samsung (Tough Mudder), SSE (Women’s FA Cup) and Vanarama (National League). The 2019 Sport Industry Awards take place in London on Thursday April 25th.
